Club History
Mississippi Headwaters Hunting Retriever Club is located at Anderson Gravel Pit, Solway, MN 56678 one mile south of US Hwy. 2 on Jones Town Hall Road.
The club was formed in 1965 by sportsmen in the Bemidji area. In 1998 the club changed its name to the Headwaters Gun Dog Club to respond to sportsmen in the area who wanted to be involved with other hunting breeds.
In 2002 the club voted to change the name to Headwaters Retriever Club and apply for accreditation from the American Kennel Club. After holding four successful Plan A events, AKC accredited the club as the Mississippi Headwaters Retriever Club. With over 195 entries, MHRC hosted its first AKC sanctioned Hunt Test in July, 2003
